This year, DG “Justice” of European Commission has announced 2 November for Equal Pay Day. The remaining 59 days (over 16%) from this day till the end of the year comprise the period women work for “free”, as it corresponds to what women in Europe gain less in payment for their work than men.
The Equal Pay Day has been marked by different activities that FTTUB delivered from the very beginning of the initiative in 2011.The Federation constantly underlines the gravity of the issue with its long-term impact, e.g. the pension pay gap, at a later stage of the life cycle.The focus of the 2015 campaign was put on the final report of the “Gender Pay Gap in transport” project. A routine event as the annual General Assembly of Eurocadres that took place on 20 October turned to historical because of its new vision – logo, visual identity and website, which were officially presented (see here ). The orange – petrol green pictogram perfectly matches the idea of unity in diversity, inherent to an intersectoral organization as the Council of Managerial and Professional Staff. Прочети още
The President of the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria /FTTUB/ Ekaterina Yordanova and the President of Entrepreneurs GERB Valya Chilova, both candidates for municipal councillors from GERB Sofia, united in their support of women entrepreneurship which is one of the topics announced by the European Commission for the first ever Horizon Prize for Social Innovation.
On October 9, 2015 an expert team of the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria met with the management of “Lufthansa Technik Sofia”, represented by the CEO of the Company Daniel Hoffman and Tsveta Milanova, Head of “Human Resources”. Youth committee of FTTUB organized meeting during the Action week of ITF in which they discussed and debated on topics such as climate changes, precarious workers and Forced labor also known as modern slavery.
Youths distributed and tasks in connection with the new ITF’s campaign “5REASONS4PUBLICTRANSPORT”. It was launched on 5th of October and its main aim is to agitate and convince people to prefer public transport for their movement in order to save our planet from the extreme climate changes. In this regard FTTUB prepared a special clarification leaflet to be distributed to passengers and car drivers.
The meeting discussed some procedural and organizational issues related to the ongoing work of the Youth Committee.
Today, October 8, the European Ministers of Transport meet in Luxembourg to discuss and possibly adopt a common approach on the political pillar of the 4th railway package. On this occasion and within the ITF’s Action week under the motto “Transport workers fighting back! Organizing globally”, the Railway transport section of ETF organizes a protest in front of the building where the meeting of the Council of Ministers takes place. The date 7 October was chosen in 2008 by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) to mark the World Day for Decent Work. Since then this day is celebrated in more than 130 countries worldwide. The term “decent work” was introduced by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and has become a focus of the industrial relations.
On this date millions of trade unionists bring together their actions and efforts to achieve a fair income, security in the workplace and social protection for their families. Прочети още
