On April 7, 2015 a team of the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria (FTTUB) visited the headquarters of Plovdiv Airport to formally present to the management of the company the newly created “Trade union of the security personnel” (TUSP).
The meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, was attended by Ekaterina Yordanova, President of FTTUB, Vladimir Shtarbanov, CEO of Plovdiv Airport, the leadership of the newly established trade union organization, headed by its chairman Nikolai Bozev and expert team of FTTUB. Прочети още

Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary, the unflinching king of cost-cutting, may finally have met his match in the strictness of French employment law. The Irish low-cost airline will close its only French base in Marseille this week in the latest round of a bitter war with French authorities.
EASA publishes today a temporary recommendation for airlines to ensure that at least two crew, including at least one qualified pilot, are in the flight crew compartment at all times of the flight. Airlines should re-assess the safety and security risks associated with a flight crew leaving the cockpit due to operational or physiological needs. Прочети още
On 16 March 2015 the Inspectorate of the International Transport Federation (ITF) to which the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria (FTTUB) is an affiliate, received a signal of distress by Ukrainian sailors from “Asian Dream” ship. Their salaries have not been paid for more than 3 months. Captain Dushin approached ITF for support after the ship became a “hostage” due to a breach of agreements and unpaid bills by her ship owners – Asian Dream Sniping Ltd and their authorized operator International Maritime Advisor and Management. ITF revealed that both companies are registered at one and the same address in Shanghai. The ship herself has been registered under Liberian flag and is currently detained in Varna lake. Прочети още
Last year, the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) launched a campaign calling for a massive tax reform in Austria. Last week the Austrian government finally agreed on a tax reform very much in the line of the campaign of the Austrian Trade Unions, “Lohnsteuer runter”.
The Austrian government reacted to the public campaign and proposals made by the trade unions. The ÖGB mobilised large parts of the labour movement for the campaign over the last months and collected more than 880.000 signatures demanding the reduction of income tax rates. After long negotiations within the Austrian government, supported by the experts of the trade unions, the outcome is a huge success for the labour movement as a whole. Прочети още
It is with deepest pain and sorrow that we, the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria /FTTUB/, received from our ETF colleagues the tragic news of the crash of Germanwings flight 4U 9525 in the French Alps on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, in which 150 people, including infants, have lost their lives. An outcry raised by a coalition of trade unions and civil society groups has led UN Women to disassociate itself from a partnership with ‘ride booking’ app provider Uber just over a week after its announcement. The unions and NGOs had acted speedily to persuade the United Nations organisation to reconsider a strategic partnership with the company that would supposedly create ‘a million’ jobs for women drivers.
