Comprehensive training on gender equality presented at the ETF Congress

A comprehensive training program on gender equality was presented at the fifth Congress of the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF), which was held last week in Barcelona. “This is a useful training tool on every level,” commented Diana Holland (UK), chair of the Women’s Committee of the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF).

The training package contains 4 modules on various topics related to gender equality in transport, complemented by a training kit facilitating the implementation of the 4 modules in actual training situations, and a whole range of tools to help the trainer – who could be both an activist and an academic level professional. The biggest advantage of the training program is that it is adaptable to the specific needs and resources of every workplace and each trade union organization. Прочети още

FTTUB event marked the end of the WISE II project

Ekaterina Yordanova gave employers and trade union leaders the Bulgarian edition of the WISE II report and its recommendations for increasing the share of women working in public transport.

The Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria (FTTUB) officially presented the final part of the WISE II project – “Women employment and gender equality policies in European public transport companies”. This is a joint project of the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) and the International Association for Public Transport (UITP) within the framework of the European Social Dialogue in the period 2015-2016. Bulgaria participates in the initiative through FTTUB, with a solid contribution to the research and the preparation of a handbook with policies and good practices for equality.

On 1 May FTTUB launches the new campaign “OUR public transport”

The Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria (FTTUB) celebrated Labour Day with the launch of the new “OUR public transport” campaign: an initiative of the International Federation of Transport Workers (ITF) which explains the benefits of public transport.

The inauguration of the campaign for Bulgaria gathered at ‘Renaissance’ square Bulgarian and international trade union leaders, employers’ representatives, Sofia municipality officials, transport workers, citizens and journalists. Прочети още

Ekaterina Yordanova: Bulgarian delegation to UN CSW61 should come up with a strong position in protection of women’s rights

FTTUB president received support from the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB); European Parliament’s support is also expected.

Bulgaria should urgently support the position of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) before the vote on the final version of teh Agreed Conclusions of the 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations, which is currently taking place in New York. This is what FTTUB President and International Transport Federation (ITF) vice president Ekaterina Yordanova pleaded in a letter to Bulgarian prime minister Ognyan Gerdzhikov. Прочети още

Youth Conference recommends strengthening the role of ITF in the Balkan region

Participants in a Regional Youth Conference united around the idea that there is a need to strengthen the role of ITF in the Balkan region. The conference took place on 9 August 2017 in Sofia. It was organized by the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria (FTTUB) and its Youth Committee, on the occasion of the International Youth Day – 12 August. It was attended by young transport workers, activists of the transport unions from Bulgaria, the Balkans and Europe. Among the participants were members of the International Transport Federation (ITF) Youth Committee from Poland, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Barbados and Argentina.
