International youth delegation on work visits in Varna

After the Regional youth conference held on 9 August 2017 in Sofia, FTTUB organized a five-day program for exchanging trade union practices, planning future joint activities with European and international transport federations, and preparing the initiatives of FTTUB Youth Committee. Work visits were organized at Varna-East Port, Varna Public Transport and Varna Airport; as well as a working meeting in the village of Kyulevcha between representatives of the youth committees of FTTUB, ETF and ITF. An international delegation of young trade union leaders visited Sofia’s Metropolitan

Young delegates learned about good practices in the implementation of social policies in a real environment
An international delegation of young transport workers, headed by FTTUB president Ekaterina Yordanova, introduced the working conditions and good practices in the social dialogue at Sofia’s Metropolitan. The visit to the Dispatching Centre of Metropolitan EAD was one more even in the program organized by FTTUB and its youth committee for the International Youth Day -12 August. Young transport workers, activists of the transport unions from Bulgaria, the Balkans and Europe, as well as members of the International Transport Federation (ITF) Youth Committee, took part in the visit.

A new youth bell at the ‘Flag of Peace’ monument near Sofia


A new bell started ringing at the International Children’s Park in Sofia, as a symbol of peace and unity between cultures. The event was an initiative of FTTUB’s Youth committee and their peers from Australia. The inauguration of the new bell took place on 10 August 2017 at the ‘Flag of Peace’ monument within the park, and gathered hundreds of young FTTUB members, citizens, municipal councilors, mayors, MPs, employers’ representatives and leaders from the FTTUB organizations. Youth Conference recommends strengthening the role of ITF in the Balkan region

Participants in a Regional Youth Conference united around the idea that there is a need to strengthen the role of ITF in the Balkan region. The conference took place on 9 August 2017 in Sofia. It was organized by the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria (FTTUB) and its Youth Committee, on the occasion of the International Youth Day – 12 August. It was attended by young transport workers, activists of the transport unions from Bulgaria, the Balkans and Europe. Among the participants were members of the International Transport Federation (ITF) Youth Committee from Poland, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Barbados and Argentina.

On 1 May FTTUB launches the new campaign “OUR public transport”

The Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria (FTTUB) celebrated Labour Day with the launch of the new “OUR public transport” campaign: an initiative of the International Federation of Transport Workers (ITF) which explains the benefits of public transport.

The inauguration of the campaign for Bulgaria gathered at ‘Renaissance’ square Bulgarian and international trade union leaders, employers’ representatives, Sofia municipality officials, transport workers, citizens and journalists. Прочети още

3600 people applauded their support for “This is my oath” campaign

3600 people showed their support for “This is my oath” campaign with applauses during the “Christmas Stars” gala concert which took place on 15 December at the National Palace of Culture. Iskra Radeva, a great and much-loved Bulgarian actress, officially backed the initiative of the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria (FTTUB) and invited the audience to join in. On 14 and 15 December the Executive Committee of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) held its last meeting for the year. Ekaterina Yordanova – president of the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria, national representative and vice president of the Women’s Committee of ETUC, was represented by her deputy Mila Nikolova. On behalf of the Women’s Committee she urged the Executive to implement the 2015 Paris Congress decision on parity in the representation of both genders in the ETUC bodies. Прочети още

FTTUB marked the International Human Rights Day with ‘This is my Oath’

“I swear never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women. This is my oath.”

With these simple but powerful words of the men’s oath uttered on the International Human Rights Day, FTTUB again drew the attention of Bulgarian men and the entire society towards violence against women.

On 10 December, members of FTTUB’s Youth were once again in the Sofia metro, where citizens took pictures in front of the panel of the oath and thus gave their vote for a world free of violence! Прочети още

FTTUB youth join UN ‘Orange the World’ campaign

With their Orange Action Day, FTTUB ‘s Youth organization joins United Nations Women’s campaign ‘Orange the World’ combatting violence against women, which runs traditionally for 16 days of activism from 25 November until 10 December.

Tomorrow, 4 December 2016, FTTUB youth activists will hand out orange balloons to citizens and explain the UN Women’s campaign, in front of the key metro station “Serdika” in Sofia. Their action starts at 10.15 a.m. at the entrance of “Knyaz Boris” str and will continue under the dome of the Largo from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

Organizers are calling on everybody: Join us tomorrow, put on something orange and come to the Largo at 11 a.m.!  Прочети още

For 25 November, FTTUB launches second stage of its “I Swear” campaign

In 2016, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria (FTTUB) launched the next stage of its “I swear!” campaign, inspired by the White Ribbon oath started by MUA and launched in Bulgaria by FTTUB’s Youth Committee and its co-chair Alina Milusheva during ITF’s 43rd Congress. This campaign is a logical continuation of our long-standing efforts to combat the instances of violence at home, in public places and at the workplace.
