The forum has been organized by the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria (FTTUB) and “Friedrich Ebert” Foundation. FTTUB aviation union activists gather for a sectoral meeting in Sofia

On April 26, 2016 at the headquarters of FTTUB in Sofia was held a sectoral meeting of the trade unions in the aviation sector. Presidents, secretaries and activists from the structures in Burgas, Varna, Gorna Oryahovica and Sofia gathered there.

FTTUB aviation union members are more than 2000 and since 43rd ITF Congress which took place in 2014 in Sofia and became the most significant trade union event in Bulgaria, their number has been constantly increasing.

The meeting was opened by Antonia Panayotova, Expert “International Cooperation” and FTTUB officer in charge of civil aviation unions, who made a report of the activities of FTTUB on international, European and national level for the past 2015 and presented before the audience the global trends in civil aviation and their impact on aviation workers all over the world. EC Women in Transport conference

P031427000602-634341“I am proud of being a woman,” declared the EU Commissioner for transport Violeta Bulc at the one-day conference “Women in Transport” organized by the European Commission on April 21 this year in Brussels. The participants were also addressed by Ines Ayala Sender, member of the Transport Committee of the European Parliament. Besides institutions, representatives of social partners, NGOs, research and marketing environments took part to the event. On behalf of FTTUB there were Daniela Zlatkova, member of the Women’s Committee of the European Transport Workers Federation and Mila Nikolova, expert on gender equality policies.

ITF AND ETF CALL ON THE US PRESIDENT TO STOP UNFAIR LABOUR PRACTICES OF NAI

Despite massive opposition both from the United States and Europe, the US Department of Transport (DOT) issued last Friday an order that would tentatively grant Norwegian Air International (NAI) a foreign air carrier permit, unless disapproved by the President of the United States. The international Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF), representing the interests of aviation workers Europe-wide and globally, strongly deplore this decision threatening thousands of jobs and call upon the US President Obama and Secretary of Transportation Foxx to reverse this order. ETF Women`s Committee has started discussing its future priorities

2016-04-12 13.50.45On 12 and 13 April 2016 in Bucharest a Women’s Conference of European Transport Federation was held within the project “FITE – Fair and Inclusive Transport in Europe”. One of the main objectives of the project is to encourage women’s participation in the transport sector through fair and attractive working conditions.

The conference was attended by the president of FTTUB – Ekaterina Yordanova, Daniela Zlatkova – member of the ETF Women`s Committee, Milka Kostova – Vice – president of the FTTUB Women`s Committee, Plamena Zhelyazkova -sectoral representative in the Youth Committee and Mila Nikolova – expert on gender equality and Political Secretary of the FTTUB Women`s Committee.

FTTUB with an appeal to nearly two hundred tourists in Rousse

On April 9 activists from “Inland waterways” section of the Federation of Transport Trade Unions of Bulgaria / FTTUB / together with volunteers distributed  nearly 200 copies of the Open letter (link) from Nick Bramley, President of ETF`s and ITF`s respective section among passengers on cruise trips in Europe. Action week of river cruise transport

On 4 April in Amsterdam started the action week of the river cruise transport  in Europe. It is organized by the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and its regional division – European Transport Federation (ETF). The two trade union structures are joining forces through their project “River cruise” aiming to protect workers in this sector and their working and living conditions. The specifics of work in inland navigation puts an equal sign between those two terms, as these employees practically live in their spare time on board – sometimes for months. Прочети още
