On 26 and 27 November FTTUB representatives participated in the project final conference on corporate social responsibility of the cross-sectoral trade union structure Eurocadres within the ETUC, jointly with CEC European managers. The corporate social responsibility is a “hot topic” during 2014 for Eurocadres and was discussed by the Executive Committee due to the public consultation on a new strategy announced by the European Commission – see here. The conference summarized the results of a previous seminar in Madrid in June and there was an open discussion between representatives of trade unions, employers in the banking and public services and the European Commission. Best practices of socially responsible behavior of companies from different industries also were presented and discussed. The two trade union organisations presented a joint position on the crucial role of P&MS for successful CSR (see here).
The conclusions of the project should be used in two ways – on the one hand, to offer appropriate training for all stakeholders, but especially for the key figures in this process – managers and professionals, whose leading role must be widely recognized; on the other hand – to develop minimum requirements that each company must meet in order to be considered as socially responsible. These requirements should cover, but not be limited to ISO 26000 and shall include policies agreed by the social dialogue.
