On March 8, the FTTUB President Ekaterina Yordanova attended the Women’s Conference of the French confederation FGTE. She returned the visit from the FTTUB last year’s National Women’s Conference to Valerie Latron, international representative of the French Transport workers’ Federation FGTE.

The close cooperation between the two federations began in 2014 during the 43rd congress of the ITF in Sofia. There, they jointly hosted a fringe event “Women in Transport” which took place in the Sofia City Art Gallery. Representatives of the French federation also were guests at a round table on reconciliation of work and private life in public transport, held at that time.
In Paris, Ms. Yordanova was invited to present the European and global gender equality agenda. She underlined the active work of the trade unions and in particular of their Women’s Committees for an ILO Convention against gender based violence. She also presented “Safe at home, safe at work” – a project of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) against violence, including the domestic one.
Transport is one of two sectors covered, while both Bulgaria and France are among the states surveyed. Mrs. Yordanova stressed the importance of cooperation between organizations from different countries to pool efforts at European and global level.
A good example is the “White ribbon” campaign that also took place at the event and which reached Europe through Sofia during the last ITF congress.

Ms. Latron also expressed satisfaction with the achievements. “We made a visible progress since the ITF Congress, especially with the support of our new leadership,” she said.
