The bargaining procedure itself began on 18 August 2015 when the trade unions of FTTUB and “Podkrepa” at the airport formally presented their joint draft proposal for a new collective agreement to replace the one expiring on 19 November 2015. The new project proposed reasonable enhancement of some of the financial parameters and benefits for the airport workers. The regular meetings of the bargaining teams of the employer and the trade unions started on 1 October and the negotiating process went on for more than two months. TUSA-FTTUB was represented in the talks by its President Rostislav Bachvarov and the secretary of the organization Aneta Sydova. FTTUB was involved throughout the negotiation process with its expert team composed of Antonia Panayotova, a Civil Aviation and International Relations expert and Simeon Simeonov, a lawyer. In the most decisive moments and despite her tremendous professional workload FTTUB President Ekaterina Yordanova also took part in the negotiations.
The new collective agreement, which was signed for the maximum permissible period of two years, will keep intact the existing benefits of the workers and the protective provisions in case of redundancies, which is considered a great success given the specificity of the moment and the uncertainties about the intention of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications to grant a concession on Sofia Airport in the nearest future / see here /.
Despite the difficult and at times discouragingly unproductive negotiations, the unions succeeded to obtain affirmation and commitment from the management side for reopening the topic for possible upgrade in spring or at the latest in early summer 2016, depending on the economic performance indicators of the Company.
