First group of volunteers for the forthcoming 43rd Congress of the ITF

On April 7 at the headquarters of FTTUB was held the mandatory briefing of the first group of volunteers wishing to participate in the preparation and conduct of the World Congress of transport trade unions in August in Sofia. Within two days the energetic and enthusiastic young people from Bulgarian State Railways holding and its subsidiaries ”Passengers Transport” and “Freight Transport” got acquainted with the international activities of FTTUB and the trade unions’ leverage on the European and world stage. The second day was dedicated to the organizational structure, work-plan and priorities of the ITF.

Four more two-day courses will be conducted during the following four months. Hopefully these training courses will not only lead to the successful participation of volunteers during the convention in August, but to their further involvement and inclusion in the work of trade unions in terms of international representation of the Bulgarian transport workers in both the ITF and ETF, as well as in the ETUC , ITUC, ILO and others.

“I would like to begin with my huge personal thanks , as well as express the gratitude of the entire leadership of FTTUB for your willingness to sacrifice your personal time and energy during this most preferred holiday month. This event is one of exclusive importance to all of us, transport workers. It will have, hopefully, its beneficial effect on the whole tradeunionism on state – and regional level, and will enable us to reveal the modern image of trade unions to the public. I am strongly convinced that in your face as young transport workers we will find the most reliable partners to make this Congress not only the most successful union forum in Bulgaria during the last century, but also an unforgettable, treasured memory for our dear guests from different corners of the world.“ Thus began her hour-long address to the twenty young railways workers-volunteers Ekaterina Yordanova, president of FTTUB.

More groups of volunteers from public transport companies in Sofia, from Sofia Airport, National Railways Infrastructure Company, Transport Construction and Rehabilitation, etc., are coming for their preparation in the months to come.
