The walking tour “Following the steps of the successful Bulgarian women” was held during two days (12, 13 of August) from 9.00 to 12.00 o’clock, organized by “Youth forum 21st century”. The tour was conducted as part of the project “Youth partnership for European quality of the public transport in the capital” with the financial help of Sofia Municipality, program Europe 2014 and is aimed at supporting the city of Sofia for its candidacy for European capital of culture 2019.
The event was prepared in partnership with FTTUB who is the organizer of the 43rd Congress of the ITF in Sofia.
The itinerary’s aim was to demonstrate the achievements of successful Bulgarian women in every aspect of their professional and public activities. These women have engraved their names in the history as one of the first that changed the 100 years old stereotypes for the “male” professions. The route was taken by more than 70 women representatives of all transport sectors around the world.
In 1908 the first law for women’s labour was adopted. The question is to know whether this law benefits the women or preserves the male positions. Who are the Bulgarian women who left a mark in the field of education, art, manufacturing, transport? Who are the women leaders in our history?
The itinerary passed by the following stops:
Stop №1: „Women and art” (NDK and „1300 years Bulgaria” monument)
Stop №2: „Women and the right of education” (Sofia university “St. Kliment Ohridski” and Bulgarian academy of science)
Stop №3: „Women and the right of profession and labour” (National Assembly)
Stop №4: „Professional development of the women in the transport area” Професионално развитие на жените в транспорта” (metro station Sofia University St. Klimen Ohridski)
Stop №5: „Women leaders” (Sofia municipality)
