A message from the president and general secretary of the ITF

We would like to wish transport workers all over the world a very happy New Year. We hope you have had a peaceful festive season and the break has been a chance for members, staff and officers to regroup, to renew commitments and to gather collective strength for the challenges that lie ahead in 2016.
2015 was a year of great successes for the ITF nationally, regionally and globally (see our 2015 review for more on this). Прочети още

Once again “NO” to violence

November 25 has been declared by the United Nations the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. On this day, governments, social partners and civil society around the world expressed clearly their will to fight this disgraceful but actually existing phenomenon. According to the European Fundamental Rights Agency, even in the European Union every third woman has experienced some form of gender based violence after the age of 15. A part of this violence happens in the workplace – both by colleagues and by third party. In the transport sector, aggression by passengers or other players in the road becomes a serious problem.

Even if I give away everything that I have and sacrifice myself, but have no love, I gain nothing. Прочети още

The coalition took the message to the floor of the 59th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW59) today, after Uber used the event to announce a plan to supposedly create a million jobs for women drivers.

Speaking from UNCSW59, Brigitta Paas, ITF vice president, commented: Прочети още

ETF demands to stop jeopardising jobs and safety in European Sky

On 29 and 30 of January 2014, the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) and its national affiliates from 11 countries organised strikes and other actions in the context of the 2nd European Action Day to demand the establishment of a fair, cooperative and social Single European Sky (SES). The Air Traffic Controllers (ATCOs) and the entire ATM (Air Traffic Management) staff called on the Transport Committee (TRAN) Members of the European Parliament to support their demands for a strong social dimension inside the SES. The TRAN Committee voted this morning on the so-called SES2+ package and ignored the concerns expressed by the ATCOs and all other involved employees.
