Upcoming projects in urban transport

On 25th September 2014 the Urban transport working group within ETF Road transport Social Dialogue committee met in Brussels. FTTUB was represented by its Executive Secretary Daniela Zlatkova. Given the expectation for the European Commission to approve an independent social dialogue committee for Urban transport, special attention was paid to the work program of the Committee for the period 2015-2019. Bargaining for Equality – with a new energy

ETUC study conducted across Europe in the framework of the project “Collective bargaining for equality” reached its final stage – publication of results, conclusions and recommendations. Follow-up of an extensive survey and conferences in Paris, Stockholm, Sofia and Brussels and the closing one – in Vilnius, the analysis of Dr. Jane Pillinger is available to all trade unions here.

Organising precarious transport workers

Precarious workers now make up around 50% of the workforce in the transport industry. That’s millions of people in the global supply chain – particularly women and young workers – in casual jobs; insecure, poorly paid, flexible and unpredictable work.

We must increase our efforts to organise these workers. Without them we can’t win the fight for decent working conditions and wages for transport workers. Lets start 2014 with a drive to organise precarious global delivery workers across all regions and sectors!

Purely and simply

New colleagues joined the team of FTTUB today – here they are! They come from Brussels –Impulsive Inga, Richard Rubbish, Water maniac Walter, Chubby Charlie, and Routine Robbie, and this morning they told us: “Today is the Earth Day!”.

It turned out that in this green day the European Commission has approved us as partner in the Generation Awake campaign. They said that they were coming with a very clear goal. As of today, they will be training us on a daily basis how to preserve our planet instead of cleaning it once a year.
